I.            GENERAL

1.       The purpose of the Madison Ridgeland Youth Baseball (MRYB) All-Stars is to provide skilled players from the recreation league the opportunity to play additional games on a more competitive level. All-Star teams are expected to represent the MRYB league in a professional and sportsmanlike manner.

2.       All-Star teams may be formed during the Spring season for Kindergarten through 6th Grade age groups.

3.       The MRYB league will serve as the sponsor of All-Star teams and will provide:

                           i.      Practice fields for teams (subject to availability form the City of Madison and Ridgeland)

                         ii.      Team insurance

                       iii.      Baseballs

                        iv.      Catcher’s equipment

                         v.      Registration fees for one (1) tournament

4.       All-Star teams are expected to provide and cover the expenses of:

                           i.      Uniforms with the MRYB brand (i.e. “Madison-Ridgeland National League All-Stars”)

                         ii.      Selection, coordination, and registration for tournaments

                       iii.      Coordination and verification of player registration and eligibility

5.       All-Star teams, coaches, players, policies, and all related matters are subject to the review and approval of the MRYB Board.

6.       The recreational league will be divided into two divisions – American League and National League. One All-Star team may be formed for each division for a total of two (2) All-Star teams per age group (i.e. 2nd grade – Madison-Ridgeland  National League and Madison-Ridgeland American League).

7.       MRYB All-Stars shall follow the USSSA By-Laws and Rules or the tournament rules for which they are registered.

II.            COACH SELECTION

1.       The MRYB Board shall select an All-Star cutoff date (“All-Star Break”), which shall occur near the mid-point of the rec season. Rec league team standings shall be reviewed for each division (American & National) for each age group. The Head Coach of the rec team in 1st place at the “All-Star Break” shall be determined for each for each division. This coach shall be given first opportunity to serve as the All-Star Head Coach for his division. Should the coach pass on the nomination, the 2nd place Head Coach will be given the opportunity. This process shall continue until a Head Coach is established for each division in each age group.

2.       The All-Star Head Coach shall then select two (2) Assistant Coaches from his Division.

III.            PLAYER SELECTION

1.       At the “All-Star Break”, coaches will be asked (via email) to nominate up to three (3) players from their rec team to be considered for All-Stars. This list will be compiled and shared with All-Star Coaches.

2.       All-Star Coaches shall then select their All-Star team based on the nominated players and players within their division. All-Star Coaches are encouraged to collaborate with other rec league coaches and attend rec league games to evaluate players in their division. All-Star Coaches may select players within their division who were not nominated for All-Stars.

3.       Teams shall be limited to 12 players per team.

4.       Prior to the end of the regular season, All-Star teams may practice but they should not participate in tournaments.

5.       Players making the All-Star team shall be recognized at the rec league championship game.
